Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and Liguastic. They are written to be read, not to be survived — if a clause is unclear, ask and we will explain it.
Last updated 10 September 2026. Liguastic is operated by Mohamed Bassam, an individual trading in the United Arab Emirates. Questions about anything on this page go to hello@liguastic.com.
1. Who we are
Liguastic is an online English learning service operated by Mohamed Bassam, an individual trading in the United Arab Emirates. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “Liguastic” mean that operator, and “you” means the person using the service.
2. What Liguastic is
Liguastic is a subscription study platform. It places you at a CEFR level using a diagnostic, builds a study plan from that result, generates lessons and practice, marks your work, and gives written feedback on your writing and speaking. It also provides an AI tutor you can ask questions.
Liguastic is a study tool. It is not a school, an accredited institution, an examination body, or a substitute for one. It does not issue qualifications and it cannot enter you for an exam.
3. Who may use Liguastic
You must be at least 16 to hold an account. If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian’s permission, and they take responsibility for the account and for payment. We do not knowingly provide the service to anyone under 16.
4. Your account
- Give a real email address — we send verification codes and account notices to it.
- Keep your password to yourself. An account is for one person; do not share logins.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access.
- You may close your account at any time from Settings, or by emailing us.
5. Subscriptions, billing and who charges you
Liguastic is paid. Current prices are on the pricing page and are shown to you again before you confirm. A subscription renews automatically — monthly or annually, whichever you chose — until you cancel it.
Payment is taken by Creem.io, who acts as merchant of record for every sale. That means Creem.io is your contractual seller for the transaction, is responsible for collecting any sales tax or VAT, and is the name that appears on your card statement. Your card details go to them directly and are never stored on our servers.
We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the change affects a renewal, and you can cancel before it takes effect. A price change never applies to a term you have already paid for.
6. Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel whenever you like and keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are covered in full on the Refunds & Cancellation page, which forms part of these terms.
7. Acceptable use
When using Liguastic, you agree not to:
- Use it for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or harm anyone.
- Submit content that is sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise harmful, or that attempts to make the AI tutor produce such content.
- Share your account, resell access, or use the service on behalf of people who have not paid for it.
- Scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy the generated lessons, questions or feedback.
- Attempt to extract the underlying prompts or models, or use Liguastic to build a competing service.
- Probe, overload or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where the breach is minor and fixable, we will normally warn you first.
8. Academic integrity
This one matters, so it gets its own section. Liguastic exists to teach you and to mark your own work so you can improve it. It is not a ghost-writing service.
You must not submit text produced or rewritten by Liguastic as your own work for academic credit, for a qualification, for an examination, or anywhere that original authorship is required. Doing so is likely to breach your institution’s rules, and it is a breach of these terms. We will close accounts used that way.
9. AI-generated content and score estimates
Lessons, explanations, questions, corrections, tutor replies and score estimates on Liguastic are generated by our AI. The teaching, the levelling, the marking criteria and the product are ours, and we may change how the pipeline is operated without notice. That has consequences you should hold in mind:
- It can be wrong. AI output can contain factual errors, wrong grammar judgements, or confident nonsense. Check anything that matters against an authoritative source.
- Band and CEFR figures are estimates. A band estimate from Liguastic is a practice indicator to help you steer your study. It is not an official score, it does not predict your official score, and no examining body has reviewed or endorsed it.
- It is not advice. Nothing Liguastic produces is legal, medical, financial, immigration or visa advice, whatever you ask it.
- Output is not unique. Two learners may be shown similar generated material.
We tune, constrain and check these systems continuously, but we cannot guarantee that every generated item is accurate. If you spot something wrong, please tell us — it is the fastest way we improve.
Supplier note. For security, reliability and quality of output, parts of this pipeline are operated for us under contract by specialist providers — large language models from Anthropic (Claude) for generation and marking, and SpeechAce for scoring recorded speech. They process your content on our instructions only, and neither uses it to train their models. Liguastic is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with either of them; Claude and Anthropic are trademarks of Anthropic PBC and SpeechAce is a trademark of its owner. We may change or add providers.
10. Exam names and trademarks
IELTS is a registered trademark of the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge University Press & Assessment. TOEFL is a registered trademark of Educational Testing Service (ETS). Liguastic is not affiliated with, endorsed by, approved by, or connected to any of those organisations. We refer to those exams only to describe what our preparation material is for.
All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
11. Your work and our material
Everything you write, record or submit stays yours. You give us the permission we need to run the service on it — to store it, to send it to our AI provider for marking and feedback, and to show it back to you. Nothing more. We do not publish your work, sell it, or use it to train AI models.
The platform itself — the software, the design, the course structure and the material generated for you — remains ours. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use it while it is active.
12. Availability
We aim to keep Liguastic running continuously, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, third-party outages and faults happen. We may add, change or withdraw features; if we withdraw something significant that you are paying for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your term.
13. Suspension and closure
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is being used fraudulently, or where we are required to by law. If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, we refund the unused part of your term.
14. Disclaimers
Liguastic is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be error-free, that its content will be accurate, or that using it will produce any particular result — including any particular exam score. Learning outcomes depend on your own effort and circumstances, which we cannot control.
15. Limitation of liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or opportunity, or for exam results. Our total liability to you for any claim connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use Liguastic after that date means you accept the new terms. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, this does not remove the protections that the mandatory consumer law of your own country gives you.
